Dear Ellie: Thanks for providing the most recent information you have available regarding Educational Planning for Students with Chronic Health Conditions. This information will continue to be very helpful for our patients and their families.
As you know, many of our patients have concerns about dealing with their child's school. Unfortunately, sometimes they have gotten into an adversarial relationship with school personnel. At other times, there is a lack of good communciation between the family/patient and school. We have also had famlies that were not aware of new laws or requirements that were instituted in their district.
The materials you have provided are a great resource for anyone working with children who have chronic illness. They are also useful for families to help them deal with issues and concerns involving the schools and their child with a chronic illness. These materials help them increase their knowledge and ultimately their confidence.
Thank you for providing this information.
Sincerely, Colleen Lum Lung, RN MSN PNP, Pediatric Pulmonary Nurse Practitioner July 30, 1992 National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine, Denver, CO
